msmielak/moonlit: Predicting moonlight intensity for given time and location

Tools for predicting moonlight intensity on the ground based on the position of the moon, atmospheric conditions, and other factors. This package provides functions to calculate moonlight intensity and related statistics for ecological and behavioral research, offering more accurate estimates than simple moon phase calculations. Comprehensive description of the model, validation of the model output and a case study can be found in a peer-reviewed paper: Śmielak, M.K. Biologically meaningful moonlight measures and their application in ecological research. Behav Ecol Sociobiol 77, 21 (2023). https://doi.org/10.1007/s00265-022-03287-2
