The BasicMath package is designed to allow the user to execute simple statistical methods in few commands.

Available Functions

BasicMath contains the following functions:

• arithmeticmean(input, na.rm = FALSE): Calculate the arithmetic mean of a vector of numbers by summing the vector and dividing the sum by the number of elements in the vector
• geometricmean(input, na.rm = FALSE): Calculate the geometric mean of a vector of numbers by finding the product of every number in the vector and taking the nth root, where n is the number of elements in the vector. This function should not be used with negative numbers or zeros.
• med(input, na.rm = FALSE): Calculate the median of a vector of numbers.
• basictable(input, order = TRUE, na.rm = FALSE): Create a frequency table for the input vector, giving a count of how many of each number are in the vector. If order = TRUE, the values are sorted. If order = FALSE, the values are tabulated in the order they appear in the vector for the first time.
• modes(input, order = TRUE, na.rm = FALSE): Determine which numbers in the input vector appear most frequently. If order = TRUE, the modes are given in numerical order. If order = FALSE, the modes are given in the order that they first appear in the vector.
• SST(input, na.rm = FALSE): Calculate the sum of squares by subtracting the mean of the input vector from each entry, squaring each difference, and then summing the differences.
• stdeviation(input, na.rm = FALSE, sample = TRUE): Calculate the standard deviation of a vector of numbers. If sample = TRUE, divide by the degrees of freedom n-1 where n is the number of entries in the vector. If sample = FALSE, divide by the number of observations n.
• avgdist(input, na.rm = FALSE): Calculate the average distance from the mean of a set of numbers
