1. Problem solved by the package

The FARS database is extensive and it may be difficult to get the overall picture. This package provide some functions to make the exploration of the database easier.

This exploration is limited to the years 2013, 2014 or 2015. The FARS data of these years is included in the package.

2. How to use

First install the fars package from GitHub:

devtools::install_github("KeesVanImmerzeel/fars")

Then load de fars library:

library(fars)

Now the functions of the package are available to be used.

3. Available functions

fars_summarize_years(): From specified years, return the number of fatal accidents per month.

fars_map_state(): From specified year and state number, create a map of the accidents.

You can get help with any function with ?function(), like:

?fars_summarize_years()
