About WA Turtle Nesting Census Data Viewer
This application provides an interactive preview of data as uploaded from
data collectors to DBCA's ODK Central at https://odkcentral.dbca.wa.gov.au/.
The data is downloaded frequently during the season and included as snapshot.
The time of the snapshot is shown in the app.
Note that the data is pre-QA and to be considered read-only.
Any changes made to the downloaded data cannot be brought back into the
WA Sea Turtle Database WAStD.
Workflow
Filter data to area of interest
Choose the area of interest from the dropdown menu to filter the data to that area.
These areas roughly map to WA Turtle programs.
Preview data
Maps
- Tracks are clustered for performance reasons.
- Maps default to the nicer aerial imagery, but zoom in closer showing
"Place names" (OpenStreetMap). Some tight data clusters may require zooming in
over "Place names" in order to expand to individual markers.
- Hovering over a marker shows a short label, clicking a marker opens a popup
with details.
Tables
- Tables are filterable, sortable, and searchable. Copy-paste e.g. a site name
or calendar date into the headers to filter results.
- Some tables are grouped by e.g. season, site and species.
This assists drilling down quickly to the desired data.
The summary lines show the aggregated counts.
- Some tables (e.g. strandings and rescues) open up details to show the photos.
Download data
- The "Download" button returns a zip file with the raw data as CSV spreadsheets.
- The downloaded data is filtered to the data shown.
- Photo attachments are not included.
