NHANES: Older NHANES data: 1999-2004

Description

These are the data used originally in DCF and for the mosaic Modeling book. They have since been supplanted on CRAN with a new NHANES which has more modern data.

These data were collected as part of the NHANES 1999-2004 study.

Usage

data("NHANES")

Format

A data frame with 31126 observations on the following 32 variables.

• seqn matching code for NHANES mortality data

• sex "male" or "female"

• age in years

• pregnant "yes" or "no"

• ethnicity Mexican American, Other Hispanic, Non-Hispanic White, Non-Hispanic Black, or Other/Multi

• death "alive", "cardiovascular death" or "other death"

• followup months of follow up (for mortality data)

• smoker "yes" or "no"

• diabetic "yes" or "no"

• height height (meters)

• weight weight (kilograms)

• waist waist circumference (meters)

• wci the proposed body shape index

• bmi body mass index

• ptfat percent trunk fat

• tfat mass of trunk fat

• lfat limb fat

• llean limb lean tissue

• lean_bmi lean-tissue only BMI

• fat_bmi fat-only BMI

• bone_bmi bone BMI

• pct_fat percent fat

• bmd bone mineral density

• fmhm_other Framingham risk score

• hdl HDL cholesterol

• chol cholesterol (LDL?)

• bps systolic blood pressure, mmHg

• bpd diastolic blood pressure, mmHg

• income ratio of family income to poverty threshold. 5 is ratio greater than or equal to 5

• pop_weight population weight, for adding up over the US population

• psu primary sampling unit

• stratum sampling stratum
