This package contains two datasets created using the Twitter Search API and the #whistleblower hashtag.

tweets: A sample of tweets containing text and time data for tweets containing the #whistleblower hashtag.

users: Information about the users contained in the sample of tweets, including user, location and account information.
Background
On the morning of Thursday, September 26, 2019, I read several media reports regarding President Trump's attempt to pressure the Ukrainian president to investigate his political rival, former Vice President Joe Biden. Prompted by a Wall Street Journal report of a whistleblower complaint regarding a July 25th call between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, congressional leaders begin a formal impeachment investigation. A few days later, the White House released a rough transcript of this call, and on the morning of September 26th, the House Intelligence Committee released the unclassified portion of the whistleblower complaint. As you might expect, Democratic and Republican party members have very different reactions to these developments.
