In ecor/SuSnowDB: SuSnowDB: Geospatial Database for Climate Data

SuSnowDB : Bavarian Forest / Sumava area Snow Observations Database source code (R Packege / PostgreSQL Code)

This database contains a schema with 3 tables (see below).

Tables

Locations

• location_code:location code ,alphanumeric;

• location_code0:location code (PRIMARY KEY),alphanumeric,unique;

• location_name :location human readable (geographic) name
• altitude: altitude in meters above sea level;
• city_name: name of the city related to the location (if exsists);
• country_code_iso_3166_1: ISO 3166-1 administrative area code (e.g country code)(see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-1);
• country_code_iso_3166_2: ISO 3166-2 administrative area code (e.g. region/province/state code) (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-2);
• country_name Country Human Readable Name;
• description Description of the location/siter;
• geometry Geospatial coordinates (in case of point), managed by geospatial ttols (e.g. sf or postGIS);
• location_source Source of the data for the location;
• location_url Reference URL for the location;
• use_limitations Terms of Use for location data and metadata.

Measurement Types

• variable_code0: variable code (PRIMARY KEY),alphanumeric,unique;
• variable: human readable name of the variable;
• unit: measurement unit;
• description: textual description of the measurement type;
• measurement_time_interval: time interval at which variable has been measured and/or reported, e.g. hourly, daily, monthly, etc.. .

Measurements

• time:timestamp-TZ instant ;
• value: numeric value of the measurement (expressed in unit of variable_code0) ;
• flag: flag related to the measurent (see description);
• location_code0: location code (FOREIGN KEY from table locations) of the location of the measurement;
• variable_code0: variable code (FOREIGN KEY from thable _measurement_types) of the measured variable;
• description: textual description and notes of the measurement.

Package SuSnowDB can be installed through R console (currently) private repository):
