FARS Package

The Package has functions to analyze data related to fatal injuries suffered in motor vehicle traffic crashes. The data is from US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Fatality Analysis Reporting System.

Package Functions

Files/Data used for analysis exist in the package's ./init/extradata directory

make_filename(year) - Creates a filename as string that includes the year parameter.

fars_read(filename) - Reads file as per filename parameter into tbl_df (table/dataframe like format).

Example: fars_read("accident_2013.csv.bz2")

fars_read_years(years) - Reads multiple files based on years parameter into a dataframe by month and year.

Example: fars_read_years(list(2013, 2014, 2015))
```
fars_summarize_years(years) - Reads multiple files based on years parameter and sumarized into a dataframe by MONTH and year.

Example: fars_summarize_years(list(2013, 2014, 2015))
```
fars_map_state(state.num, year) - Reads a file based on year parameter and plots accident data based on state number parameter.
