Code ought be written such that it is readable by humans as well as machines.
Contractr is no different in this respect.
One should be able to assemble code in the same way one draws up a contract: that is, by adding clauses until the contract is fully specified.
The taxonomy of finance is replete with different names for different things:
provision, term, clause, requirement, specification, stipulation; proviso, condition, rider, qualification, restriction, reservation, caveat, limitation.
Contracts have a structure where different parts specify the actions of the parties involved. These parts have differing names both in law and everyday language. The most common name for these are the terms
of a contract. But the word term
is too general for our purpose and thus liable to cause confusion. For example, is is common to speak about the terms
of other things, such as formulas. Techically speaking, a terms could refer to anything.
A better word for this is clause
