Current state
Available is very stable, lightly used, don't need much maintenance.
Known outstanding issues
One case that comes up periodically is the service at http://rpkg-api.gepuro.net/ goes down. It is possible we could add some code to improve that, or look for GitHub projects in a different way, maybe using GitHub search directly.
