The quaker package provides tools to examine, analize and visualize earthquake data from a dataset obtained from the U.S. National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) on significant earthquakes around the world. This dataset contains information about 5,933 earthquakes over an approximately 4,000 year time span. There is support code to prepare the NOAA earthquake data for analysis and visualization. The are functions to act as "geoms" - extensions to the ggplot2 plotting and mapping capability in R. There are functions to enhance the visualization of earthquake locations using the Leaflet mapping routines.
