Median Family Income Files (mfi_definition_YYYY.txt)

Each year, new files are placed by the FFIEC on this web page:

https://www.ffiec.gov/Medianincome.htm

Download the Excel version of the file and place it in data/original_data. Then call function import_ffiec with the year of the data to be input as an argument. This will create the necessary file in the data subdirectory.

Distressed and Underserved Area Definitions (distressed_definitions_YYYY.txt)

Download the Excel version of th efile and place it in data/original_data. Then call function import_distressed with the year of the data to be input as an argument. This will create the necessary file in the data subdirectory.

CBSA Definition Files (cbsa_definitions_YYYYMM.xls)

At irregular intervals, the OMB places new definitions of Core Based Statistical Areas on the following page:

https://www.census.gov/geographies/reference-files/time-series/demo/metro-micro/delineation-files.html

Download the Excel versions (under "Core based statistical areas (CBSAs), metropolitan divisions, and combined statistical areas (CSAs)") and rename them using the naming convention, cbsa_definitions_YYYYMM.xls and place it in data/original_data. Then call function import_omb('data/original_data/cbsa_definitions_YYYYMM.xls').

NECTA Definition Files (necta_definitions_YYYYMM.xls)

At irregular intervals, the OMB places new definitions of New England City and Town Areas (NECTAs) on the following page:

https://www.census.gov/geographies/reference-files/time-series/demo/metro-micro/delineation-files.html

Download the Excel versions (under "New England city and town areas (NECTAs), NECTA divisions, and combined NECTAs") and rename them using the naming convention necta_definitions_YYYYMM.xls and place it in data/original_data. hen call function import_omb('data/original_data/cbsa_definitions_YYYYMM.xls').
