Description

These datasets were transcribed from \insertCiteJohnson-Laird2012;textualinconData.

Details

Two datasets are provided:

• jl12a: corresponds to Figure 2 of \insertCiteJohnson-Laird2012;textualinconData.

• jl12b: corresponds to Figure 3 of \insertCiteJohnson-Laird2012;textualinconData.

Each dataset is represented as a tibble with the following columns:

• id: Unique chord identifer.

• rating: Mean perceptual dissonance rating.

• roughness_model: These are estimates of roughness made by \insertCiteJohnson-Laird2012;textualinconData using the computational model of \insertCiteHutchinson1978;textualinconData. There seem to be some mistakes in this data; an alternative is to use the model as implemented in the incon package.

• tonal_model: These are consonance ranks from the tonal consonance model of \insertCiteJohnson-Laird2012;textualinconData. Lower values correspond to greater consonance. Again, there seem to be some mistakes in this data; an alternative is to use the model as implemented in the incon package.

• pi_chord: Vector of chord pitches, expressed as MIDI note numbers. Uses the pi_chord representation from the hrep package.

Note

The table uses representations from the hrep package. Loading the hrep package improves the way that chord objects are displayed.
