De Aarde Beeft

Auto's razen door de straat
Een wereld die te snel gaat [1]
En niemand die er stil bij staat
Oh, my god! [2]

Een ijsberg kiepert in de zee
Ministers op de TV
Die blozen 'Acht, het valt wel mee'
Oh, my god!

[CHORUS]

Oh, my god!

[CHORUS]

Men zegt vaak, kinderen zijn de toekomst
Maar waarom blijft het daar dan bij?
Ik wil de wereld die mij toekomt!
Zeg nee, zo luid je kan [4]!
Wie doet mee met mij?

NEE!!!

[CHRORUS]

Zee nee, zo luid als je maar kan!
En leg je hand in mijn hand... [5]
Zeg nee,

Richel's review

In this song K3 sings about their worries about climate change.

I find the opening of the song weak. Sure, cars contribute to climate change, but a world that goes too fast [1] may or may not contribute. Why painting such a landscape of fear, instead of focusing on just climate change?

The opening of the song contains an additional potential improvement: the American OMG [2]. I feel this a dissonant for two reasons: 1. K3 is a Flemish band and I feel the Flemish tongue to be very enjoyfull. I wish they would have use a Flemish or Dutch expression, like 'Verdulleme', 'Verdikkie', 'Jammerdepammer', 'Sodeju' or 'Vlammende' 2. K3 does not adhere to any religion, so calling to a god is unexpected. This may suggest K3 is naive and that they just use the expression without realizing its meaning. It would have been just as easy to use 'O my gosh'. Or is K3 trying to connect to religious people?

In enjoy that K3 has a song about climate change. K3 suggests some countermeasures, like protesting [4] and holding their hands [5]. Protesting may be effective, but holding hands appears to me as counterproductive. Does K3 just take every opportunity to increase the amount of love? Or is that foundation of love seen as a base to operate from?

I think it is a missed opportunity to suggest more effective countermeasures (as suggest by the literature the move 'Before The Flood' is based on), like to prefer consuming chicken over cow meat, adopting a more vegetarian lifestyle and voting for politician that want to introduce a carbon emission tax. I also could not find any reference that K3 or Studio100 giving money to charity.

I enjoy the high syntactical complexity of my favorite lyric [3].

This is a song written for a message that should be heard. Ironically, that is exactly the reason I delete it from my playlists, as I start actively listening to it.
