Whoppa!

[NANA]
Nana nanana
Nana nanana
Nana nanana
Nana nanana

[VERSE 1]
Alle vlinders in m'n buik zingen luidkeels,
Whoppa-e, whoppa-o [1]
Alle vezels in m'n huid zingen luidkeels
Whoppa-e, whoppa-o [2]
De deejay zegt, shimmy-shimmy shoep-shoep [3]
Alle boys [10] staan buiten op de stoep-stoep
Wil je binnen [15], wil je 'n relletje beginnen [20], zing,
Whoppa-e, whoppa-o

Elke vrijdagavond start die wilde rollerdisco party [30]
Zet maar lekker berenhard [40] die beat, ik kan niet meer

[CHORUS]
Alle jongens zeggen whoppa [41]
Alle meiden zeggen whoppa [42]
Tot de keet op z'n kop staat
En we dansen, dansen, dansen

Alle jongens zeggen whoppa
Alle meiden zeggen whoppa
Tot de keet op z'n kop staat
En we dansen, dansen, dansen

[NANA]

Alle meiden in de club zingen luidkeels
Whoppa-e, whoppa-o
Alle meiden in de tub zingen luidkeels
Whoppa-e, whoppa-o

Richel's review

In this song, K3 describes a rollerdisco party.

There is not much going on at the party; only dancing and yelling 'whoppa'. Actually, the party appears to me quite primal, with mostly yelling 'whoppa'. Also the DJ appears to have lost his/her eloquence, as he/she can only say 'shimmy-shimmy shoep-shoep'. Apparently, it matters how 'whoppa' is pronounced, as its meaning can be:

Some in-detail text review:

They use the word 'boys' [10], instead of just 'jongens' (Dutch for 'boys'). I understand this has to do with the metrum, but I'd prefer K3 would have sticked to Dutch.

I enjoy the smooth metrum of 'Elke vrijdagavond start die wilde rollerdisco party' [30]. It sings away so nice!

The adjective 'berenhard' ('as loud as a bear') [40] is a great find. I intend to use it in my own vocubulary.

There is something about candy lying around, of which all girls ask whose it is [50]. I cannot comprehend this situation: what would be the role of candy at a rollerdisco party? I can easily imagine fruit juices, cocktails (e.g. a Pina Colada) and mostly healthy snacks, as that's what fit rollerskating people prefer! I can only imagine candy in a roller disco within the context of child abduction, an association which I assume K3 would prefer to avoid. I think, in the end, this sentence is there just for the cheap rhyme. I would have preferred lyrics to make sense.

I conclude this is a song about close-to-nothing. The party feels as if visited by mentally challenged people only.
