Resubmission 11-08-2023

This is a resubmission of the archived package NobBS. In this version I have corrected the major issues which are now fixed:

• Updated deprecated tidyverse functions such as group_by_ and vars_select
• Updated documentation of all affected functions, DESCRIPTION, and NAMESPACE

Test environments (Resubmission 11-08-2023)

• local OS X install, R 4.3.2
• win-builder (devel and release)
• R-hub (Ubuntu Linux 16.04 LTS, R-release, GCC; Fedora Linux, R-devel, clang, gfortran; Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, R-devel, 32/64 bit)

R CMD check results (Resubmission 11-08-2023)

There were no ERRORs, WARNINGs, or NOTEs when checked on local OS X install.

There were no ERRORs or WARNINGs when checked on win-builder or on most R-hub checkers. There was one NOTE that indicated misspelled words, which are not misspelled (see previous CRAN comments).

For some R-hub checkers, the following ERROR was received:

• Error: .onLoad failed in loadNamespace() for 'rjags', details: call: fun(libname, pkgname). error: Failed to locate any version of JAGS version 4

This error is because JAGS is required to be installed on the system before installation of rjags. This is noted in the README.md and help files.

Resubmission

This is a resubmission. In this version I have:

• Written 'NobBS' in single quotes in title and description
• Added a reference to the method in authors (year) format
• Added a copyright holder to the LICENSE file
• Confirmed that the mentioned email address is not a mailing list, it is a personal email
• Added a SystemRequirements field in the DESCRIPTION file to describe the JAGS system requirement
• Added an argument quiet to the function to allow suppression of JAGS-related output and progress bars
• Replaced the print() status with message()
• Written TRUE and FALSE in full
• Replaced the "T" vector name with "Today"

• R-hub (Ubuntu Linux 16.04 LTS, R-release, GCC; Fedora Linux, R-devel, clang, gfortran; Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, R-devel, 32/64 bit)

The resubmission generated substantively the same R CMD check results as in the initial submission and are described here for completeness.

There were no ERRORs, WARNINGs, or NOTEs when checked on local OX install.

There were no ERRORs or WARNINGs when checked on win-builder or on most R-hub checkers. There was one NOTE commonly across checks:

• Possibly mis-spelled words in DESCRIPTION:
• McGough (10:359)
• Nowcasting (2:8)
• al (10:370)
• et (10:367)
• nowcasts (10:277)

These words are not mis-spelled.

There was one ERROR for R-hub checked on Fedora Linux, R-devel, clang, gfortran:

• configure: error: "automatic detection of JAGS failed. Please use pkg-config to locate the JAGS library. See the INSTALL file for details."

This error is because JAGS is required to be installed on the system before installation of rjags. This is noted in the README.md and help files.
