The goal of shinyconsole is to capture the output of all shiny inputs and reactiveValues with a single function, then print them to the console.
You can install the development version from GitHub with:
# install.packages("devtools") devtools::install_github("tylurp/shinyconsole")
Consider the following shiny app:
library(shiny) library(shinyconsole) ui <- fluidPage( column( width = 12, align = "center", h1("shiny console"), checkboxInput("checkbox", "Click me!"), sliderInput("slider", "slider", 0, 10, c(0, 10)) ) ) server <- function(input, output, session) { shinyconsole(session, rv) rv <- reactiveValues( checkbox_message = character(), null = NULL, empty = logical() ) observeEvent(input$checkbox, { if (input$checkbox) rv$checkbox_message <- "Checkbox has been checked!" else rv$checkbox_message <- "Checkbox has been unchecked!" }, ignoreInit = TRUE) } shinyApp(ui, server)
The resulting console output on app load is:
[ shiny log @ 2020-09-20 13:25:31 ] * input$checkbox : FALSE * input$slider : 0 10 * rv$null : NULL * rv$checkbox_message : character(0) * rv$empty : logical(0)
