skempton: Calculate Skempton's coefficient B.

Description Usage Arguments Details Assumptions Author(s) See Also

Description

Skempton related changes in applied stress to changes in fluid pressure; this is the famous constant B.

Usage

1
skempton(Beta, Phi, Beta_u = NULL, Beta_f = NULL)

Arguments

Beta

numeric; compressibility β

Phi

numeric; Φ

Beta_u

numeric; β[u] solid matrix - undrained

Beta_f

numeric; β[f] fluid

Details

Calculates Equation (4) from Rojstaczer and Agnew (1989)

Assumptions

As noted by Rice and Cleary [1976], this definition for B assumes that the rock matrix is homogeneous and all the pore space is interconnected.
