a_fb.val: Underground feedback activation

Description Usage Arguments Details Value References

View source: R/forecast.R

Description

Estimates the underground feedback activation afb, which is the a-value of the Gutenberg-Richter law (Gutenberg and Richter, 1944) normalized by the injected volume (e.g., Dinske and Shapiro, 2013).

Usage

1
a_fb.val(Ntot, b, m0, Vtot)

Arguments

Ntot

total number of events above m0 for Vtot

b

the slope of the Gutenberg-Richter law

m0

minimum magnitude threshold

Vtot

total volume of fluids injected

Details

This is equivalent to Shapiro's Seismogenic Index (e.g., Dinske and Shapiro, 2013) SI = log10(Ntot / Vtot) + b * m0 but here theoretically agnostic, following the notation of Mignan et al. (2017).

Value

The numeric value of the underground feedback activation
