Parels

[CHORUS]
1 klein kusje en de tijd bleef staan
2 grote ogen lieten mij niet meer gaan
3 mooie woorden en jij sprak me aan
met 'I love you baby'

[CHORUS]

maar wie weet was jij een engel [1]
die uit de blauwe hemel kwam [2]
en misschien kon ik wel vliegen
als jij me in je armen nam [3]

We dansten op de stoe-poe-poebiedoep

[CHORUS]

set me free
stop in the name of love
set me free
stop in the name of love

je raakt me aan en ik blijf niet koel
het is zomer in de straat
verliefde harten in het feestgejoel
zingen door tot 's avonds laat

we dansten op de stoe-poe-poebiedoep

[CHORUS]

set me free
stop in the name of love
set me free
stop in the name of love

Richel's review

K3 sings about the commence of a new love.

As K3 is a Flemish band, I fail to understand the need for excessive amounts of English in a song. This song is one of those examples, others are Ik Wil Niet Naar Huis Gaan, and Love Boat Baby. I'd suggest to replace the English words to Dutch, including the title, which I suggest to should have been 'Schat, ik hou van jou'

I enjoy the change of tempo between chorus and verses. Where I am not impressed by the chorus, the verses lift the song up. Too bad the ratio between the two is skewed towards having an overdose of dull choruses.

At [1] the boy is compared to an angel. I fail to see the use of religious symbols in K3 songs. Sure, I can appreciate a metaphor like Waar Zijn Die Engeltjes for 'sweet boy', but in this song the mataphor is used as if he is a true angel, coming from the sky [2] and being able to fly [3].

I put song in the 'just another dull K3 lovesong' category.
