This function fits the integration data as obtained from the Lumifuge
to an exponential decay function to obtain a kinetic parameter
since this non-linear fitting procedure is quite dependent on the initial
guesses of the fitting parameters I will use nl2 which tries different
combinations of starting values to find the one with the best fit
