Format

ODP658 is a data frame with the following variables.

Variables:
[1] "depth" "Age" Age (in kyr)
"GInflata_d18O" d18O measures in G. inflata
"GInflata_d13C" d13C measured in G. inflata
"Cibicides_d18O" d18O measures in Cibicides
"Cibicides_d13C" d13C measured in Cibicides
"Bacculeata_d18O" d18O measured in B. acculeata
"Bacculeata_d13C" d13C measures in B. acculeata

Details

ODP Site 658 off Cap Blanc, West Africa (20N, 18W) is located within the core of the wind-driven West African upwelling region, and has high sedimentation rates (15 cm/kyr) due to high biogenic and terrigenous (eolian dust) sediment supply [verbatim copy from P. de Menocal's home page : http://www.ldeo.columbia.edu/~peter/

Note

The same core has been studied from a marine palynology point of view by Dupont et al. See. e.g. doi:10.1016/S0016-6995(97)80194-5 and de Menocal et al. (abrupt changes durint the Holocene, and end of interglacial
