These data are county-level breast cancer mortality for white women in counties in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia with populations of less than 100,000 white women.

A data frame with 393 observations and two variables:
number of documented deaths in white women due to breast cancer in 1950-1969
population of white women in 1960
These data were obtained from http://www.wiley.com/WileyCDA/WileyTitle/productCd-0471293415.html. They are featured in Royall and Cumberland (1981a, 1981b) and Valliant, Dorfman, and Royall (2000). The population data are from the U.S. Census. The mortality data are from Mason and McKay (1974).
