jotsetung/mirhostgenes: mirhostgenes: putting miRNAs into genomic context
This package provides functionality to define host genes for all miRNAs of a species and build and use the corresponding database and annotation packages. miRNAs are frequently encoded in introns of transcripts from, mostly protein coding, genes and exons of non-coding transcripts/genes. Such miRNAs are frequently co-transcribed with these host transcripts and their expression correlates to some extent with the expression of the mRNA from these primary transcription units.
